Software Engineer building fintech products in NYC
I'm a software engineer who takes full ownership of hard problems — from architecture decisions to production rollout. I love building products that users actually interact with. For the past 5+ years, I've been working in fintech - first at Airtel Payments Bank building mobile banking features for millions of users in India, and now at Goldman Sachs working on trading platforms.
What gets me excited? Taking a complex problem, figuring out the right solution, and shipping something that makes a real difference in people's lives. Whether it's a payment flow that just works, or a feature that saves traders hours of manual work - I care about the impact, not just the code.
I studied at University of Washington (MS) and Delhi Technological University (BTech), and I've been lucky to work with some incredibly smart people who've pushed me to grow.
Building trading platform features in the Asset & Wealth Management division with full ownership from design through production. Solved complex concurrency problems (race conditions, event serialization) in systems handling thousands of trades daily. Led cross-functional work spanning compliance, infrastructure, and 15 external vendors. Mentored 5 interns through full dev lifecycle, shipping features now used daily by traders.
Worked on the Marcus platform, modularizing core microservices into a library service for future extensibility. Owned development of a critical Apple Cards feature, coordinating with product, design, and engineering teams from requirements through launch.
This is where I fell in love with building products at scale. Built backend services that onboarded ~10,000 new users/day with fault-tolerant patterns (Kafka retry queues, idempotent operations). Achieved <10ms API response times at 500 TPS. Owned customer journey analytics that identified and fixed onboarding bottlenecks, reducing drop-off rates.
Full ownership of end-to-end system eliminating millions in licensing fees. Solved concurrency challenges (race conditions with external executions, event serialization across ID changes). Integrated with planning, bookkeeping, and position systems. Zero P&L impact post-launch across thousands of daily trades.
Led team's first cloud deployment with no existing playbook. Owned architecture decision (evaluated S3 vs SingleStore vs on-prem), implemented IaC for entire solution, and coordinated with compliance, infra teams, and 15 external vendors. 35% cost reduction. Passed FRB audit.
Technically, I enjoy working with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and building systems that need to be fast and reliable. But more than any specific technology, I care about working on products where I can see the direct impact of what I build.
I'm always happy to connect with fellow engineers, chat about fintech, or discuss interesting technical problems. Feel free to reach out on LinkedIn or email me.
